The Wisconsin Council for the Social Studies and International Education Annual Conference is pleased to announce that the 2010 Conference will be a Great Lakes Regional Conference involving educators from Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio & Wisconsin. It will be held on Monday, March 15 and Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at the Madison Marriott West in Middleton, Wisconsin.
The 2010 conference will have two remarkable keynote speakers, over 100 break-out sessions, and Tuesday afternoon programs focusing on graduate credit. The deadline for presentation proposals will be the middle of December 2009.
Professor Robert “Jeff” Norrell, a renowned University of Tennessee historian specializing in Southern history, U.S. History, and 20th Century American race relations, will be one of the Conference keynoters. Professor Norrell has published several books on Southern history including Reaping the Whirlwind: The Civil Rights Movement in Tuskegee that won the Robert F. Kennedy Book Award in 1986. In 2006 Professor Norrell received the Booker T. Washington Legacy Prize given by the Heartland Institute for his work on the Alabama educator culminating in his most recent book, Up from History, http://www.hup.harvard.edu/catalog/NORHIS.html.
